Honoring a lifetime commitment to peace and justice
The Hawkinson Honorary Award is given to an individual or individuals who have made a long and significant contribution to the causes of peace and social justice. Since 1988, 47 veteran peace and justice activists have been recognized for their service to the community and to the world. While each is unique in his or her contribution, these committed individuals share a common goal — a more peaceful and just world. Hawkinson honorees are inspiring role models for the next generation, embodying the rewards and the struggles that are part of the pursuit of social justice and peacemaking.
Hawkinson Honorary Award recipients have typically been selected annually and been recognized formally at the Hawkinson Annual Awards Presentation. Nomination forms have typically been reviewed each spring. Honorary Award and scholarship recipients have typically been recognized at the Annual Awards Presentation each fall.
