Founded in 1988, the Vincent L. Hawkinson Foundation encourages and inspires the next generation of peace and justice leaders.
The Hawkinson Foundation defines peace and justice broadly. Past scholarship recipients have worked on international healthcare, LGBT equality, racial justice, domestic violence, human rights, and health disparities in low-income communities.
We recognize and support individuals, young and old, with a passion for peace and justice. We both honor individuals who have made a lifetime commitment to peace and justice and support students who are in the early years of their commitment to peace and justice. We are committed to being an organization that embraces the variety of methods that one can take to work towards peace and justice in our world. We support individuals of all faiths and backgrounds.
We take inspiration from the Rev. Vincent Hawkinson’s commitment to stand up and speak against oppression and injustices in all forms.
The Vincent L. Hawkinson Foundation inspires bold action for justice.
To perpetuate the work and spirit of Vincent L. Hawkinson, the Foundation:
- Honors individuals who have made significant and sustained contributions to peace and social justice,
- Awards scholarships to students who have demonstrated a deep commitment to peace or social justice, and
- Publicizes the activities of honorees and scholarship recipients so that others are encouraged and inspired to action for peace and justice.
Although we are a foundation, we don’t have an endowment. Almost all of our funding comes from individuals like you. Will you join us in supporting the next generation of peace and justice leaders? Donate today.
